Collective Worship at Headlands

We are a Church of England school who pride ourselves on our school vision of “Growing a happy, loving and flourishing community”.

Each half term, we focus on different school values which aim to support this vision.

Our School Liturgy

Children enter the hall quietly and themed music (linked to a Christian Value or protected characteristic) and have the opportunity for quiet reflection.

Welcoming: each act of worship opens with a greeting, blessing and prayer. We invite children to lead in prayer and light three candles to represent the holy trinity of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Opening: each act of worship introduces the value of focus before sharing a stimulus that demonstrates the value. Often, stories and poetry is used before making a link to the bible.

Reflection: children and adults in attendance are asked to reflect on the content of worship through discussion or quiet thought.

Prayer: children and adults are invited to join in with an act of prayer. Often children will lead in this.

Sending: children receive a blessing and are asked to carry the school value with them in their day at school.

Our School Prayer

Dear God,
Be present in our school.
Let friendships grow here.
Let every room be full of hope and joy.
Let love grow here.
Love of one another,
Love of ourselves,
Love of life,
And love of God.
Help us to remember,
Many hands built our school
But many loving hearts make a school community flourish.
Amen.
